The people were upon the water in a boat;
there were dark clouds brewing, and they were following a rocky coast, with
many islands. They were sore afraid, and much confused.
They said to the Lord, "Lord, tell us, which
way shall we go?", and the Lord said " It all depends on where you
want to get to".
Some of the people said "Lord, if we go
to the left, we fear we may land upon the rocks", and the Lord said
"That's true".
Others amongst them said "Lord, if we go
to the right, we may be blown far out to sea, where there are monsters and
other dangers", and the Lord said "You have a good point there, my
children".
And even a few among them said "Lord, if
we sail between the rocks and the islands, we may be attacked from both
sides", and the Lord said "Its a tricky position you find yourselves
in".
And the wind began to gather pace, and the
waves were topped with flecks of foam. And the people said "Lord, we are
afraid there is a storm coming., how can we avoid it?", and the Lord said
"Not by arguing amongst yourselves, that's for sure"
Then the Lord took pity on the people and
this is what he said to them.
"Look after the boat, my children. Make
sure it is well caulked against the water, and repair any damage to the sails.
Organise yourselves so that you work together, instead of against each other.
Set your course by the stars, and stick fast to it. If the winds should blow
up, then gather your courage and head into the storm."
And the people thanked the Lord, and continued
arguing amongst themselves.
